Is the ranking in different browsers the same?

I wonder if the ranking of my website is the same in different browsers? Are there different criteriums to show the search results for different browsers?

Ideally, you should see the same search results regardless of the browser you use. However, there are exceptions where search results vary based on the browser you use, whether you logged in or not, the cookies you have as well as the kinds of tests Google is running.

Different data center of Google may also be the reason

different variables like your geographical location, account settings may affect the ranking of your site on the SERP. SERP is meant to be same everywhere you search. But they may differ slightly on the following basis-

  • Your login status(whether you are logged in or not)
  • Functionalities browsers provide
  • How the browser manages the cookies

Matt Cutts stated these reasons for getting different results in different browsers. Google has many data centers. Even the browsers may call data from different places which may cause the difference in SERP. Among these data centers, there could be some which have not even been considered for ranking. You can even get the depersonalized search result using ?pws=0 at the end of the Google search link. Or you may try the incognito mode to get it.
